We visited Mannubhai Sweet and Snack Shop in Bhavnagar and watched fafda, sev, boondi, gathiya, phoolwadi and laddoo being made.
Quick summary
- Good for: Bhavnagar food notes, Gujarati snacks and sweet shop memories.
- Food notes: fafda, sev, boondi, aloo sev, gathiya, phoolwadi and laddoo.
- Vegetarian note: these are vegetarian snack and sweet shop notes. Vegan status is not confirmed because some sweets may use ghee or dairy.
Behind the scenes at the snack shop
The visit gave a simple behind-the-scenes look at how fresh Gujarati snacks are prepared in quantity. The photos show staff preparing fafda, sev and other fried snacks.

Fafda, sev and gathiya
What I still like most are the photos showing fafda and sev being made. Watching the process made these everyday Gujarati snacks much more interesting than simply seeing the finished plate.

Vegetarian and vegan notes
The snacks we saw here were vegetarian. We did not confirm vegan preparation, and sweet and snack shops may use ghee, dairy or shared frying processes.
