Melbourne Diaries-Part2-Beaches of Melbourne

Australia is blessed with its share of natural beauty and a beautiful coastline.Though Sydney is always the top runner with its share of beautiful beaches, Melbourne is quieter and perfect destination for both the laid back and the surfing crowd.As spring comes by and summer beckons, its now time for the sun and sand 🙂

St Kilda:

St Kilda is one of the closest beaches to Flinders station.You can take a tram and get down right there.Easily accessible both by bus and tram,it is a great way to bring on the weekend.It has got fabulous eateries nearby from Vegan “Lentil as Anything” and cheesy delight “Milk the cow” to a contemporary “Donovan’s” and Lebanese “40 thieves and co.”You are never out of options.Luna park is an old amusement park situated close by.

From Southern cross station:

Via Bus:220

Frankston: Frankston is a beach which awakens the tranquility in your soul.You can head to see the various sand sculptures and you are  amazed at an artist’s imagination.Pier has views for glorious sunsets.If you are in mood for some good Italian,head to Sofia’s.

Via Train

From Flinders: Take a train from Platform 8 and get down at Frankston station Platform 1

From Southern cross: Take a train from Platform 12 and get down at Caulfield station Platform 4.Take a train from Platform 2 at Frankston station Platform 1

Brighton:It is one of the most beautiful suburbs of Melbourne and famous for its photo shoots thanks to the beautiful and iconic bathing boxes.It is also a home to the wealthiest citizens in Melbourne..It is a surfer’s paradise and you will find many sport enthusiasts, kite surfers,golfing enthusiasts and sports clubs lined along the coast. Bay-side and beach road is a cycling track with one of the most beautiful views.

Via Train

From Southern cross: Take a train towards Sandringham and get down at Brighton beach station.
