Indore felt like a city built around food conversations. Sarafa Bazaar was the highlight for us, with jewellery shops closing and the lane turning into a busy vegetarian street food market.
Quick summary
- Good for: vegetarian street food, sweets, snacks and night market memories.
- Food notes: kopra patties, dahi bade, shikanji, dal bafla, bhutte ki kees, garadu, malpua and sweets.
- Vegan note: vegan options are not confirmed because many dishes use dairy, ghee, curd or shared preparation.
Sarafa Bazaar at night
Sarafa Bazaar was the main reason to visit Indore for this food trail. Once the shops close, the lane becomes a busy food street with chaat, fried snacks, sweets, milk drinks and thali-style meals.

Chaat, patties and dahi bade
We started at Vijay Chaat House for kopra patties, potato patties, aloo bada and kachori. Another stop I still remember was Joshi Dahi Bade, not just for the dahi bade but for the theatre around serving them.

Sweet drinks, thali and night snacks
Nagori shikanji was a rich milk-based drink rather than the lemon-style shikanji common elsewhere. We also had a Rajhans dal bafla thali and later stopped for bhutte ki kees, garadu, samosa, kachori and sweets.

Vegetarian and vegan notes
This is one of the stronger vegetarian food notes because Sarafa Bazaar is full of vegetarian street food. Vegan options are not confirmed from the trip notes because many dishes use curd, ghee, milk, rabdi or shared cooking surfaces.
